Overview

AB-SA01 is a clinical-stage, natural bacteriophage therapeutic candidate being developed by Armata Pharmaceuticals. It was originally developed by AmpliPhi Biosciences before its merger with C3J Therapeutics to form Armata. AB-SA01 targets serious and life-threatening infections caused by the bacterium *Staphylococcus aureus*, including antibiotic-resistant strains. The therapy consists of a cocktail of naturally occurring bacteriophages that specifically target and lyse *S. aureus*. It has been evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial for topical safety and has been provided to patients with severe infections under an expanded access program.
