AB002

AB002 is a first-in-class protein C activator thrombin analog designed to target the thrombus interface and generate endogenous activated protein C (APC) without cleaving prothrombotic substrates. It acts as an anticoagulant by rapidly interrupting thrombus development with minimal risk of bleeding, making it a potential alternative to heparin for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) on chronic hemodialysis who are at risk of thrombosis or have contraindications to heparin. Preclinical studies demonstrated antithrombotic efficacy comparable to high-dose enoxaparin and superior safety compared to tissue-plasminogen activator. Clinical trials have shown that AB002 reduces clotting in dialysis circuits without increasing bleeding risk[3][6][7].
