Overview

AB1001 is a first-in-class, non-steroidal, non-immunosuppressive topical small molecule drug candidate being developed by Ahammune Biosciences for the treatment of vitiligo. Unlike conventional therapies such as topical corticosteroids or JAK inhibitors that broadly suppress the immune system, AB1001 specifically targets the cellular pathways involved in triggering T-cell activation and the subsequent autoimmune destruction of melanocytes. By blocking these early immune triggers, the drug halts the progression of depigmentation and stimulates melanocyte function to promote durable skin repigmentation. AB1001 has completed Phase 1 clinical evaluation, demonstrating a favorable safety and tolerability profile, and is advancing into Phase 2 clinical trials.
