Overview

AB2302 is a monoclonal antibody being developed by AngioBiomed GmbH, a subsidiary of Deutsche Biotech Innovativ AG, for anti-angiogenic tumor therapy, with a primary focus on breast cancer. The antibody is directed against adrenomedullin (ADM), a vasoactive peptide hormone that stimulates tumor-induced blood vessel growth (angiogenesis) and tumor blood supply. AB2302 works by blocking the interaction between ADM and its receptor, thereby inhibiting new blood vessel formation and depriving the tumor of oxygen and nutrients. Developed as a mouse monoclonal antibody with patent protection, it is intended to be used as a complement to standard cancer therapies. The compound is currently in preclinical development and has demonstrated the ability to block ADM-induced cAMP response in vitro in a concentration-dependent manner, binding with high affinity to an evolutionarily conserved region of ADM.
