AB602 is an oral plasma kallikrein inhibitor under development for the treatment of hereditary angioedema (HAE) and diabetic macular edema (DME). Plasma kallikrein, acting through bradykinin, is a key mediator of increased vascular leakage in both DME and HAE. By inhibiting plasma kallikrein, AB602 aims to reduce or normalize vascular leakage associated with these conditions. The drug is being developed as a simple oral alternative to current therapies that are often invasive and require subcutaneous or intravenous administration. Preclinical studies have shown compelling results in animal models of vascular leakage[5][6].
