Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a fixed-dose combination of three antiretroviral agents—abacavir, lamivudine, and dolutegravir—formulated as an oral dissolvable strip (ODS) by Oak Therapeutics. Abacavir and lamivudine are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) that act as chain terminators to block the conversion of viral RNA into DNA. Dolutegravir is an integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI) that prevents the integration of viral DNA into the host cell genome. This ODS formulation is designed to improve treatment adherence and ease of administration, particularly for pediatric populations or patients with dysphagia. It is currently in advanced preclinical development for the treatment of HIV infection.
