Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Abacavir hydroxyacetate is an orally active inhibitor of Interleukin-20 (IL-20) and Psoriasis-Related IL-20-Stimulated Gene (PRINS). It functions as an immune modulator, reducing the proliferation rate of skin cells, and is being investigated for the research of inflammatory skin problems, such as psoriasis. Studies in mice have shown that Abacavir hydroxyacetate effectively controls psoriasis, demonstrating a superior effect compared to methotrexate in reducing PRINS and IL-20 concentrations and the area of skin lesions. This compound is currently for research use only.
