Overview

ABBV-022 is an investigational **antibody-cytokine fusion protein** being developed for **ulcerative colitis** by **AbbVie** under a collaboration with **Philogen**, which originally discovered and out-licensed the program. The molecule consists of an **interleukin-22 payload fused to a targeting antibody** designed to selectively deliver IL-22 to damaged gut mucosa, particularly the epithelial surface, with the goal of promoting intestinal stem cell survival, improving goblet cell function, restoring epithelial barrier integrity, and reducing mucosal inflammation. Based on the available public information, ABBV-022 entered **Phase 1** clinical testing in ulcerative colitis in 2021.
