Overview

ABBV-382 is a humanised IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody that targets the alpha4beta7 integrin, a heterodimeric receptor expressed on T cell subsets, B cells, NK cells, and other immune cells. By binding to alpha4beta7 integrin, ABBV-382 acts as an antagonist and disrupts its interaction with ligands such as MAdCAM-1 and HIV-1 gp120. This mechanism inhibits HIV-1 replication and cell-to-cell spread and may also modulate immune responses by enhancing antigen presentation of immune complexes formed with HIV virions. ABBV-382 is being developed primarily for the treatment of HIV infection (as part of efforts toward a functional cure) and Crohn's disease. The drug is administered via intravenous or subcutaneous injection. It is being developed by AbbVie.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
