ABD0099

ABD0099 is an alpha,beta-acetylenic amino thiolester compound developed by Advanced BioDesign. It functions as an inhibitor of the aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) superfamily of enzymes, which are involved in aldehyde detoxification and the regulation of cancer stem cell (CSC) populations. In preclinical models of glioblastoma, ABD0099 has demonstrated potent cytotoxicity, significantly exceeding that of the standard-of-care agent temozolomide (TMZ). The compound works by inhibiting cellular ALDH activity and inducing apoptosis, likely through the intracellular accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). It has also shown synergistic potential when used in combination with TMZ.
