Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Abdakibart (AVTX-009) is a humanized monoclonal antibody of the IgG4 subclass that targets and neutralizes interleukin-1β (IL-1β), a potent pro-inflammatory cytokine. Developed by Avalo Therapeutics, the drug is designed to treat various immune-mediated inflammatory diseases by inhibiting the IL-1β signaling pathway, which plays a central role in chronic inflammation. It is currently being evaluated in the Phase 2 LOTUS trial for the treatment of moderate to severe hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a chronic inflammatory skin condition. By binding to IL-1β with high affinity, abdakibart prevents the cytokine from interacting with its receptors, thereby dampening the inflammatory cascade associated with HS and other systemic inflammatory disorders.
