Overview

A combination therapy consisting of abemaciclib, a selective inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 (CDK4/6), and exemestane, an aromatase inhibitor. Abemaciclib blocks CDK4/6, which regulate G1 to S cell cycle progression and are often altered in cancers, helping to slow or stop cancer cell proliferation. Exemestane reduces estrogen production by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme. This combination is used in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive (HR+), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) metastatic breast cancer.
