Overview

Abera Bioscience is developing an intranasal vaccine candidate for the prevention of *Chlamydia trachomatis* sexually transmitted infections. The vaccine utilizes the company's proprietary Outer Membrane Vesicle (OMV) platform, specifically Salmonella-derived OMVs that are decorated with *Chlamydia trachomatis* antigens, including MOMP-derived CTH522 and HtrA. This modular platform allows for the display of heterologous antigens while providing inherent adjuvant properties. Administered intranasally to induce mucosal immunity, the vaccine has demonstrated the ability to elicit both systemic and local immune responses in preclinical mouse models, including humoral responses in vaginal compartments and cellular responses (CD4+ Th1 and Th17). It is currently in early exploratory/preclinical development.
