Overview

ABF-101 is an orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-oxidase (NOX) enzymes, currently under development by Aptabio Therapeutics for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). By targeting NOX enzymes, ABF-101 aims to mitigate oxidative stress and associated cellular damage in the retina, which are key drivers in the pathogenesis of AMD. This novel oral approach represents a potential alternative to current standard-of-care intravitreal injections. The compound is being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in both healthy volunteers and patients with AMD.
