Overview

ABI-010 is a nanoparticle albumin-bound formulation of 17-AAG (tanespimycin), which acts as an inhibitor of the heat shock protein 90 (HSP90). HSP90 is a molecular chaperone involved in the stabilization and function of several proteins required for tumor growth. By inhibiting HSP90, ABI-010 disrupts multiple signaling pathways critical for cancer cell survival and proliferation. The drug was developed primarily for the treatment of advanced malignant solid neoplasms but its clinical development was discontinued after Phase 1 trials[1].
