Overview

ABI-274 is a novel small molecule tubulin inhibitor developed by researchers at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. It functions as a G2/M phase blocking agent, disrupting microtubule dynamics to induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells. Preclinical research has highlighted its potential in treating BRAF-mutated melanoma, particularly in overcoming acquired resistance to BRAF inhibitors like vemurafenib. Studies have demonstrated that the combination of ABI-274 and vemurafenib exhibits strong synergistic efficacy in vitro and in vivo, significantly enhancing therapeutic outcomes in vemurafenib-resistant xenograft models.
