Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ABI-7423 is an investigational, oral, broad-spectrum non-nucleoside polymerase inhibitor being developed for the treatment of transplant-associated herpesviruses. It is designed to inhibit viral DNA polymerase activity, thereby blocking replication of a range of herpesviruses that can cause significant morbidity in immunocompromised patients, such as those undergoing organ transplantation. The drug is currently in IND/CTA-enabling studies and has not yet entered clinical trials. Assembly Biosciences is advancing this candidate as part of its antiviral pipeline targeting serious viral diseases[1][6][8].
