ABI-902 (also known as ABN902) is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of Aurora kinase B (AURKB), currently under development by the South Korean biotechnology company Abion. Aurora kinase B is a critical enzymatic regulator of mitosis, playing essential roles in chromosome alignment, segregation, and cytokinesis. By selectively inhibiting AURKB, ABI-902 induces chromosome segregation defects and cytokinesis failure, leading to polyploidy and subsequent apoptosis in rapidly proliferating cancer cells. The drug has demonstrated significant anti-tumor activity in preclinical models of various solid tumors, with a particular focus on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and other malignancies that exhibit resistance to standard-of-care therapies. ABI-902 is designed for oral administration and is being positioned as a targeted therapy to address unmet needs in advanced solid tumors.
