Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Abilar VET is a veterinary medical device developed by Repolar Pharmaceuticals, a Finnish company. It is a topical resin-based salve containing 10% Norway spruce (*Picea abies*) resin as its active ingredient, which is collected and purified from Finnish Lapland. The product is designed for the treatment of various skin injuries in animals, including wounds, scratches, abrasions, and damage to paws, paw pads, claws, or hooves. Its mechanism of action involves the formation of a stable, protective film over the affected area that remains effective even in moist conditions. The resin provides antimicrobial properties and supports the natural wound-healing process. Additionally, the natural resin flavor of the salve helps deter animals from licking the treated area, further facilitating recovery. Abilar VET is available at pharmacies and veterinary clinics and is approved for marketed use.
