Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Abiranamo** is a generic formulation of abiraterone acetate, an orally active, steroidal CYP17A1 inhibitor developed and marketed by Shivnaam Tradelink. It is indicated for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) and metastatic high-risk castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC), typically administered in combination with a corticosteroid such as prednisone or prednisolone. Abiranamo works by selectively and irreversibly inhibiting the cytochrome P450 17A1 (CYP17A1) enzyme, which catalyzes key steps in androgen biosynthesis within the testes, adrenal glands, and prostatic tumor tissues. This inhibition leads to a profound reduction in circulating testosterone levels, thereby slowing the progression of hormone-driven prostate cancer cells.
