Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ABL-101 is a novel perfluorocarbon (PFC)-based oxygen carrier and diagnostic imaging agent being developed by Aurum Biosciences. It functions as a therapeutic by delivering oxygen to ischemic or traumatized tissues; its particles are significantly smaller than red blood cells, enabling them to bypass vascular blockages or traverse collateral vessels. Additionally, it serves as a diagnostic tool through Glasgow Oxygen Level Dependent (GOLD) technology, which enhances MRI imaging to detect tissue under metabolic stress or inflammation. Originally known as Oxycyte, ABL-101 is administered intravenously in combination with supplemental oxygen and is being investigated for conditions including acute ischemic stroke, spinal cord injury, and various inflammatory diseases.
