abnobaVISCUM A is a biologic antineoplastic agent derived from mistletoe (*Viscum album*) grown on fir trees (*Abies alba*). Developed by abnoba GmbH and marketed in regions like South Korea by LB Abnoba, it is used as an adjuvant therapy for various malignant tumors. The extract contains bioactive compounds, primarily mistletoe lectins (ML I, II, and III) and viscotoxins. Mistletoe lectins function as Type II ribosome-inactivating proteins (RIPs), which inhibit protein synthesis and induce apoptosis in cancer cells. Additionally, the drug exerts immunomodulatory effects by stimulating the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, T-lymphocytes, and the release of cytokines, thereby enhancing the host's immune response against the tumor. It is typically administered via subcutaneous injection to improve quality of life and reduce the side effects of conventional oncological treatments.
