Overview

abnobaVISCUM Quercus is a standardized injectable extract of fresh European mistletoe (Viscum album L.) harvested from oak (Quercus) host trees, developed within the framework of anthroposophic medicine as an adjunctive cancer therapy.[1][3][9] It contains a pressed juice of mistletoe leaves, stems and berries with one of the highest mistletoe lectin contents among commercial preparations, and exhibits cancerostatic and immunomodulating properties in vitro, in animal models and human pharmacology, largely attributed to mistletoe lectins I–III and other constituents.[1][3][9] The product is indicated (according to anthroposophic principles) for stimulation of formative and integrative forces in malignant tumor diseases, defined precancerous states, benign tumor diseases and relapse prophylaxis after tumor surgery, and is used subcutaneously or intravenously, typically alongside conventional surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy to improve quality of life and reduce treatment-related side effects.[1][2][3] It is produced and marketed by Abnoba as multiple strengths (e.g. 0.02–20 mg) and dosed individually based on patient reactions such as local inflammatory responses and transient fever.[1][2][15]
