Overview
Abnormal Savda Munzip (ASMq) is a traditional Uyghur herbal preparation used in the treatment of diseases associated with "abnormal Savda," a concept in Uyghur medicine. It is composed of multiple medicinal herbs and has been studied for its therapeutic effects, particularly in conditions such as hypertrophic scars and certain cancers. Mechanistically, ASMq has demonstrated anti-hypertrophic scar properties by modulating the TGF-β/Smads signaling pathway—specifically enhancing Smad7 expression while suppressing TGF-β1 and collagen types I and III production in fibroblasts derived from hypertrophic scars[2]. Additionally, ethanol extracts of ASMq have shown antiproliferative effects on cancer cell lines (e.g., Caco-2 cells), inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest[3]. The precise composition may vary but typically includes a combination of several traditional herbs.
