Overview

ABR-001 is a first-in-class human monoclonal antibody developed by Abcentra that targets phosphorylcholine (PC), a pro-inflammatory epitope found on oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) and apoptotic cells. By binding to PC, ABR-001 mimics the function of naturally occurring protective anti-PC antibodies, which are often depleted in patients with cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases. The antibody aims to reduce vascular inflammation, prevent the formation of foam cells, and promote the clearance of apoptotic debris, thereby stabilizing atherosclerotic plaques. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, such as acute coronary syndrome, and has potential applications in chronic inflammatory conditions like psoriasis.
