Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Abrysvo and Arexvy are two distinct, FDA-approved vaccines developed to prevent lower respiratory tract disease (LRTD) caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Abrysvo, developed by Pfizer, is an unadjuvanted, bivalent recombinant protein subunit vaccine containing stabilized prefusion F (preF) glycoproteins from RSV subgroups A and B. It is approved for older adults (60 years and older), adults aged 18–59 at increased risk, and pregnant individuals (at 32–36 weeks of gestation) to protect infants. Arexvy, developed by GSK, is an adjuvanted, monovalent recombinant vaccine containing the prefusion F (RSVPreF3) protein from RSV subgroup A, formulated with GSK's proprietary AS01E adjuvant system. It is approved for adults aged 60 and older, and adults aged 18–59 at increased risk. Although both target the RSV fusion (F) glycoprotein in its prefusion conformation, they are separate products and are not administered together.
