ABS CATA-001 is a first-in-class symmetric bispecific antibody designed for the treatment of light chain multiple myeloma (LCMM) and AL amyloidosis. Developed by Ab Studio using computer-aided design, the molecule features a dual mechanism of action: a humanized VHH arm targeting CD38 to deplete malignant plasma cells and a computationally optimized arm derived from the 2A4 antibody that targets and catalytically clears pathogenic free light chain (AL) aggregates. The CD38 arm is engineered with a unique epitope that does not compete with daratumumab and is affinity-detuned to enhance safety by sparing NK cells and activated T cells. By addressing both the underlying malignancy and the toxic protein aggregates responsible for renal damage, ABS CATA-001 represents a next-generation therapeutic approach for plasma cell dyscrasias.
