Overview

Absent in Melanoma 2 (AIM2) is an interferon-inducible protein that functions as a cytoplasmic sensor for double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), playing a crucial role in innate immunity by forming the AIM2 inflammasome, which triggers inflammatory responses and pyroptosis. In the context of oncology, AIM2 has been identified as a tumor-associated antigen (TAA) expressed in various cancers, including glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). It is utilized as a neoantigenic peptide component within the personalized TAMAVAQ NeoVaccine, developed by Biogenea Pharmaceuticals Ltd., to stimulate tumor-specific T-cell immunity against cancer cells in patients with newly diagnosed glioma.
