ABT-341 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP‑IV or DPP‑4), an enzyme that degrades incretin hormones involved in the regulation of insulin secretion and blood glucose control. Its structure is similar to sitagliptin in two dimensions but differs significantly in three-dimensional conformation. ABT‑341 was developed as an experimental agent for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus by prolonging incretin activity through DPP‑IV inhibition. The compound features a trifluorophenyl group occupying the S1-pocket of DPP‑IV and demonstrates high selectivity and oral efficacy in preclinical studies.[1][2][6] Developed by AbbVie.
