Overview

ABT-652 is a small molecule drug developed by Abbott Laboratories (later AbbVie) as a potent and selective modulator of the histamine H3 receptor. It was investigated primarily for the treatment of pain conditions, including osteoarthritis pain of the knee, diabetic neuropathic pain, musculoskeletal pain, and sleep disorders such as dyssomnias and excessive daytime sleepiness. The drug acts by modulating the histamine H3 receptor, which plays a role in regulating neurotransmitter release in the central nervous system. Clinical development reached up to phase 2 trials but was ultimately discontinued for all indications[1][2][3][5].
