Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ABT-925 is a selective dopamine D3 receptor antagonist developed by Abbott Laboratories for the treatment of schizophrenia. It exhibits approximately 100-fold higher in vitro affinity for the dopamine D3 receptor compared to the D2 receptor. As a small molecule antipsychotic in the piperazine and pyrimidine chemical classes, it was evaluated in phase II clinical trials for schizophrenia but did not demonstrate significant efficacy over placebo and was generally well tolerated. Development of ABT-925 was discontinued in December 2007[1][3][4].
