ABvac40

ABvac40 is an investigational active vaccine designed to target the C-terminal end of the amyloid beta 40 (Aβ40) peptide, a key pathological feature in Alzheimer’s disease. It consists of several repeats of a short version of the Aβ40 peptide and is administered subcutaneously. The vaccine aims to stimulate the immune system to produce specific antibodies against Aβ40, facilitating its clearance from the brain and potentially reducing amyloid plaque formation. This approach seeks to avoid harmful immune reactions seen with earlier vaccines by eliminating T-cell epitopes associated with meningoencephalitis.
