ABX-06 is an anti-microbial peptide conjugate being developed by Centauri Therapeutics for the treatment of acute Gram-negative multi-drug resistant (MDR) lung infections. It is part of Centauri's Alphamer platform, which utilizes chemically synthesized molecules to redirect the host's pre-existing immune system toward specific pathogens. ABX-06 consists of a targeting peptide that binds to the surface of Gram-negative bacteria, conjugated to an alpha-Gal epitope. This epitope is recognized by naturally occurring anti-Gal antibodies, which are abundant in human serum. Upon binding, the complex triggers an immune response, including complement activation and opsonophagocytosis, to eliminate the bacterial infection. The development of ABX-06 is supported by the PACE (Precision Anti-infectives for Chemotherapy Evaluation) initiative.
