Overview

ABY-029 is a synthetic anti-EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) Affibody molecule conjugated to the near-infrared fluorescent dye IRDye 800CW. It consists of a 58-amino acid Affibody peptide (Z03115) that specifically binds EGFR and is used as an imaging agent for fluorescence-guided surgery. The drug enables real-time visualization of EGFR-expressing tumors during surgical resection by providing contrast between tumor and normal tissue. Developed for intravenous administration prior to surgery, it has demonstrated high correlation between fluorescence intensity and EGFR expression in clinical studies with soft-tissue sarcoma and head and neck cancers. No significant toxicity or adverse events have been reported in preclinical or early-phase human trials[1][5][6][8].
