In cell-based studies, it was identified as a positive modulator of nerve growth factor receptor TrkA and brain-derived neurotrophic factor receptor TrkB signaling. Preclinical studies reported improved mitochondrial metabolic activity and ATP production in primary cortical neurons, attenuation of scopolamine-induced memory impairment in mice, and improved long-term memory in aged animals.
