Overview

AC-203 is a topical formulation of 1% diacerein developed for treating Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). It inhibits the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome and decreases the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines including IL-1beta and IL-18, which could reduce blister formation and severity of skin lesions in EB patients. The oral formulation containing diacerein has been approved for treating chronic rheumatic diseases in France and other EU and Middle Eastern countries since the mid-1990s.
