Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**AC Vax** was a GSK non-conjugated bivalent meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine formulated from capsular polysaccharide antigens of *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C. It was used for active immunization to prevent invasive meningococcal disease, including meningococcal meningitis and septicemia caused by these serogroups. The vaccine induces serogroup-specific anti-capsular antibody responses; as an unconjugated polysaccharide vaccine, it does not use a carrier protein. It was supplied as powder and solvent for solution for injection and administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously. The UK medicinal-product record identifies AC Vax as discontinued.
