Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AC01 is an oral ghrelin peptidomimetic small-molecule developed by AnaCardio AB, in-licensed from Helsinn, for the treatment of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). It acts as a calcium sensitizing inotrope by agonizing the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR), thereby increasing cardiac contractility and force without the safety concerns associated with conventional inotropes that increase calcium concentrations and flux. This unique mechanism aims to improve cardiac output and potentially offer disease-modifying effects for HFrEF patients.
