Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AC591 is an investigational herbal medicine being developed by Shandong New Time Pharmaceutical, part of the Lunan Pharmaceutical Group. It is a standardized extract of the Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu decoction, a traditional Chinese herbal formula. AC591 is formulated as granules and is under investigation for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) caused by agents such as paclitaxel and oxaliplatin. Clinical trials, including a Phase II study, are evaluating its efficacy in reducing neurotoxicity in cancer patients. Preclinical and clinical data suggest that AC591 may prevent neuropathy by modulating inflammation and immune responses, without compromising the antitumor activity of chemotherapy.
