Acacia baileyana pollen

Acacia baileyana pollen is an allergenic extract derived from the pollen of the Cootamundra wattle (*Acacia baileyana*), a tree in the Fabaceae family. It is primarily used as a diagnostic tool for skin testing to identify IgE-mediated hypersensitivity and as a therapeutic agent for allergen immunotherapy (desensitization) in sensitized individuals. The extract works by interacting with specific IgE antibodies on mast cells and basophils during diagnostic testing and by modulating T-cell and B-cell responses during immunotherapy to induce clinical tolerance. First approved in the United States in 1972, it is produced by several specialized manufacturers of allergenic products, including Antigen Laboratories, Hollister-Stier Labs, and ALK-Abello.
