Overview

Acalisib is an investigational, oral small molecule inhibitor that selectively targets the delta isoform of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3Kδ), an enzyme predominantly expressed in immune cells such as B-cells and T-cells. By inhibiting PI3Kδ, acalisib disrupts signaling pathways involved in cell growth, survival, and metabolism, leading to decreased tumor cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis. It has been primarily investigated for use in lymphoid malignancies and other hematological cancers. Acalisib was originally developed under the code names GS-9820 and CAL-120[1][2][3][4][5].
