Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ACAM1000 is a live attenuated smallpox vaccine derived from a clone of Dryvax (the first-generation smallpox vaccine). It was developed using modern cell culture technology and grown in African Green Monkey kidney (Vero) cells. The vaccine was designed to provide immunization against smallpox while potentially offering an improved safety profile compared to Dryvax. In clinical trials, ACAM1000 demonstrated 100% take rates and high seroconversion rates, with immunogenicity and safety profiles comparable to Dryvax.
