ACARA TRIO

ACARA TRIO is a combination osteoporosis medication developed by Anwerina Deutschland GmbH. It contains risedronate (as monosodium risedronate), a nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate, along with calcium and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) supplementation. Risedronate works by inhibiting the enzyme farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase (FPPS) in the mevalonate pathway of osteoclasts. This inhibition leads to the disruption of protein prenylation, which is essential for osteoclast function and survival, thereby reducing bone resorption and increasing bone mineral density. ACARA TRIO is indicated for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis to reduce the risk of vertebral and hip fractures, and for the treatment of osteoporosis in men at high risk of fractures. The treatment regimen consists of a weekly 35 mg risedronate tablet and daily sachets containing 500 mg of calcium and 1000 IU of vitamin D3.
