Overview

**Acaroid** is an Allergopharma brand family of subcutaneous house-dust-mite allergen immunotherapy products. It consists of aluminium hydroxide-adsorbed depot allergoid suspensions made from chemically modified house-dust-mite allergen extracts; marketed presentations may contain *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* allergoid, *Dermatophagoides farinae* allergoid, or both. Chemical modification with formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde reduces IgE reactivity while retaining immunogenic allergen epitopes, with the aim of inducing allergen-specific immune tolerance and reducing symptoms and medication needs in IgE-mediated mite-induced allergic rhinitis, rhinoconjunctivitis, and allergic asthma.
