Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Accelerex with Collagen is a topical wound care product developed by Regenex Pharmaceutical for the treatment of chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, venous ulcers, and pressure ulcers. It utilizes the company's proprietary QBx™ technology (formerly known as Polyhydrated Ionogens or PHI™) to normalize the wound microenvironment. The formulation specifically includes collagen to support tissue regeneration and provide a scaffold for cellular migration. Its mechanism of action involves the down-regulation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), specifically MMP-2 and MMP-9, as well as other proteases and reactive oxygen species (ROS), while modulating tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) and polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs). It is classified as a medical device dressing or wound cream and has received CE approval, with FDA reapproval pending.
