Accell

Accell is a line of demineralized bone matrix (DBM) products used as bone graft substitutes to facilitate bone healing in orthopedic, spinal, and reconstructive surgeries. Developed by SeaSpine (following acquisitions from Integra LifeSciences and IsoTis Orthobiologics), Accell utilizes a proprietary "Accell Bone Matrix" (ABM) technology. ABM is a dispersed form of DBM that provides a significantly higher surface area compared to standard DBM, thereby enhancing the bioavailability of endogenous growth factors such as bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs). These BMPs are osteoinductive, signaling mesenchymal stem cells to differentiate into osteoblasts. Most Accell products are formulated with a poloxamer-based reverse phase medium (RPM), a thermoreversible carrier that allows the material to be moldable at room temperature and become more viscous at body temperature, ensuring the graft remains at the surgical site and resists irrigation.
