AccuVAC-D001M is an investigational DNA vaccine candidate developed by the South Korean biotechnology company AccuGene for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine is based on AccuGene's proprietary AccuVAC platform, which utilizes a DNA plasmid delivery system to introduce genetic instructions for the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein into host cells. Once expressed, the spike protein acts as an antigen to stimulate the host's immune system, inducing both humoral (antibody-mediated) and cellular (T-cell) immune responses. DNA vaccines are designed to be stable at room temperature and can be rapidly manufactured, offering potential logistical advantages over traditional vaccine platforms. AccuVAC-D001M was advanced into early-stage clinical trials to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy volunteers.
