Overview

ACD440 is a first-in-class, potent and selective small molecule TRPV1 (transient receptor potential vanilloid 1) antagonist developed as a topical gel for the local treatment of peripheral neuropathic pain. By blocking TRPV1 receptors—key mediators in pain signaling and temperature regulation—ACD440 aims to provide effective analgesia with minimal systemic exposure. The drug was originally discovered by AstraZeneca and is now being developed by AlzeCure Pharma under license from Acturum Life Sciences. Clinical studies have demonstrated significant pain-relieving effects and good tolerability in patients with neuropathic pain. ACD440 represents a non-opioid alternative for patients who do not respond adequately to existing treatments[1][2][3][4][5][6][7].
