ACE2-Fc is a recombinant fusion protein combining the extracellular domain of **angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2)** with the **Fc fragment of human immunoglobulin (IgG1 or IgG3)**. Its primary mechanism is acting as a decoy receptor for coronaviruses (including SARS-CoV-2), binding to their spike protein and neutralizing viral particles[1][2][5][10]. The Fc domain further mediates immune effector functions, such as antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP), and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC)[1][2][5][10][12]. Some ACE2-Fc variants are engineered for enhanced affinity to the viral spike, abrogated ACE2 enzymatic activity to minimize cardiovascular effects, or enhanced Fc-effector properties[2][7]. ACE2-Fc agents are under development as therapeutics for COVID-19[5][8][10], and demonstrate broad neutralizing potential against multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants and other ACE2-utilizing coronaviruses[2][6].
