ACE2v2 is a preclinical-stage engineered protein therapeutic developed by Cyrus Biotechnology. It is designed as an advanced variant of the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), which serves as the entry receptor for SARS-CoV-2 and plays a key regulatory role in the renin-angiotensin system (RAS). While wild-type soluble ACE2 has been explored as a decoy receptor to neutralize SARS-CoV-2 and modulate RAS activity, ACE2v2 represents an optimized version with enhanced properties. The modifications in ACE2v2 aim to improve pharmacokinetics, reduce immunogenicity, and increase resistance to neutralization by pre-existing antibodies. Its primary indications are anticipated to be viral infections such as COVID-19 and potentially other conditions where modulation of RAS or viral entry inhibition via ACE2 is beneficial[8]. As of late 2024, it remains in preclinical development.
